ALPR Ban Ordinance (Chandler, AZ)

This ordinance would ban the city of Chandler from using automated license plate reader (ALPR) systems. The city and its departments would not be allowed to acquire, operate, or access data from any ALPR system (privately owned or otherwise). This only applies to ALPRs, meaning it will not impact cameras or recording systems that require manual review to identify a license plate, nor photo enforcement systems separately authorized and regulated by state law. For example, this does not include red light cameras. This would include Flock Falcon cameras, and equivalent competitor products from other companies such as Axon or Motorola.
