Boycott
A guide to the companies enabling fascism, how to boycott them, alternatives, and which other companies to support. This is how to use our collective economic power.
Targets
These are the companies actively aiding the Trump Administration, or capitulating in advance. We should not be supporting these companies in any way.
Amazon
Amazon holds a monopolistic position in the market, contributes to dangerous working conditions for its employees and drivers, and CEO Jeff Bezos has donated over $1 million to this administration.
Target
Target has let ICE into its stores, especially in Minnesota, allowing them to take citizens and utilize Target stores to carry out their cruel operations. Additionally, Target rolled back their DEI initiatives, and removed LGBTQ+ products from their stores capitulating in advance to the Trump regime.
Home Depot
Similar to Target, Home Depot is allowing ICE to illegally kidnap day laborers from their stores, and parking lots on their property. The laborers in our communities are not able to look for work safely.
Streaming
Many companies have aired ICE ads on their music, video, or entertainment streaming platforms. These companies are enabling ICE to kidnap our neighbors and we should not support them.
Spotify (and Pandora)
Spotify not only has aired ICE ads, but it has been the only company to double down stating the ads are compliant with the streamers U.S. advertising policy. On top of this, they don’t pay artists their fair share, they promote AI bands, and they have invested in AI military companies. Pandora was part of the same ICE ad program.
Youtube (and YT Music)
YouTube and YouTube music were part of the same program as Spotify, airing ICE ads. YouTube is also owned by Google, meaning it comes with a whole host of issues. It is difficult to find feasible YouTube alternatives, but a good solution is to use an AD BLOCKER, so that they can’t profit from showing you ads.
Hulu, HBO Max, and Peacock
All these streaming services aired ICE ads.
Other Boycotts
These are other companies that we are actively campaigning against.
Starbucks
12,000+ baristas—young, queer, and workers of color among them—are organizing for a fair contract with higher pay, better staffing and hours, and an end to union busting. We are boycotting Starbucks in solidarity with workers and because of their union busting practices.
ChatGPT (OpenAI)
OpenAI execs are Trump’s biggest donors. They are also lobbying for fast, unregulated expansion of their data centers, no matter how it affects the environment or blows up electricity prices. OpenAI now also has a deal with the Pentagon to use their AI for mass surveillance of Americans and possibly producing AI weapons that kill without human oversight.
Alternatives
Alternative companies or solutions to the boycotted companies above. We are still working on these lists! If you have suggestions to add to these lists, email us at info@eastvalleyunite.org.
